Donna Giraud’s artistic path began over two decades ago, but it was her 14-year career as a nurse that quietly shaped the emotional core of her work—an instinct for presence, calm, and human connection that now flows through every layer of paint. After co-managing a successful downtown Vancouver gallery with three fellow artists, Giraud returned her full attention to the studio, where she builds large-scale, heavily textured abstract works defined by gestural shapes and intricate layering. An avid traveler with 42 countries behind her, she draws inspiration from the moss-covered trails near her North Vancouver home and the weathered surfaces of centuries-old buildings abroad, translating those textures into pieces that have found homes across Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Featured in publications such as Boulevard Magazine and Vancouver Home, and a regular presence at events like IDS Vancouver, Giraud’s mission is to create art that is at once stunning and attainable—work that invites viewers to pause, feel deeply, and find beauty in life’s subtle layers.
